This lake house needed a complete makeover as a retreat from the city.
A new second floor and new deck design were added with views of the lake. The kitchen remodel was accomplished by moving it to the center of the house to become the heart of the home. The cathedral ceiling was opened to a second floor balcony connecting the master suite to the children’s wing (which was an attic conversion). Walk-out basement remodel allowed suites for weekend guests to have their own space including their own laundry room. A detached garage design provided a 3-car garage as well as a hangout above for the children.

Process
Clients wanted to make a weekend lake home into a year round home to showcase her paintings and to raise their two sons.
The house was built within the rear setback, therefore variances were required to be able to expand the footprint and height.
The house never had a garage so a detached 3 car garage was added with a playroom above for the children.
The family entertained a lot so multiple bedrooms and laundry areas were added.
The house had a million dollar view of the lake. To maximize the view, the roof was raised and larger windows were added.
The small dark kitchen was facing the driveway. The kitchen was moved to face the kitchen and to be in the center of the home so
it could be the heart of the home.
